Dries Van Noten's first collaboration with the artist dates back to 2016, after discovering Gill's work on Instagram. Months of conversation about the possibility of working together led to the production of a series of paintings about prominent Italian heiress Marchesa Luisa Casati, one of the main inspirations behind Dries Van Noten's Fall/Winter 2016 collection. The thirteen pieces, based on a variety of photographs of the eclectic heiress, subsequently traveled with the collection and served as inspiration to create the invitations for the fashion show. Nearly 1200 invitations came to life, creating precious and unique keepsakes for the guests.
